Author: M Butcher
Date: 2005-01-11 16:40:40 -0600

Caryatid is a high-performance content management system (CMS) designed for small and medium scale sites. It has been created with the intent of making quality CMS capabilities available on hosted servers that provide PHP-based scripting. It is open source and free.

PHP Hypertext Processor: Caryatid is written in the popular and widely available PHP language. While it performs many common tasks out of the box, Caryatid can be easily extended with custom PHP code.

XML Storage: Caryatid stores documents in the industry-standard XML format. Leveraging a number fo XML technologies, Caryatid is capable of advanced content control.

Compact Database: Using an abstract Berkeley-style database interface, Caryatid can handle huge amounts of data with ease, and with an extensible indexing model, Caryatid supports quick and painless customization for particular data types.
