Sinciput is nearing 1.0. And recently some new features have been added. Here is a summary of these new features:
- Crossrefence support has been added to the Notes editor. You can now insert cross-references in your notes to other Source, Note, Journal or Topic files. This provides more flexibility in note-taking, and helps you move along a train of though more easily.
- Directory-like browsing of Sources and Notes for authors, subjects, and titles. This provides yet another way to get to the information you need quickly and efficiently.
- A built-in search engine. Search searches Notes, Sources, Topics, and Journals. And it's amazingly fast.
- On-the-fly in-page keyword highlighting. Type in a word, hit the 'highlight' button and all of the occurances of that word on the page are highlighted.
- AJAX support and AJAX-enabled Note browsing. With AJAX support, you can show and hide the notes for a particular source without having to refresh the page each time. Trust me, it's cool -- and very useful.
- A Journal has been added. This feature is intended to help you keep track of your thoughts -- ideas for papers and projects, daily logs, random thoughs... you can store them all in Sinciput along with your notes.
- A new Study Aids section has been added, and along with it a customizable page of links to useful research sites on the Internet.
Along with these new features, many under-the-covers improvements have been made. Better sorting, faster data retrieval, and code documentation (for developers) are just a few of the updates.
Oh, and the help files have been updated and improved, too.
